Hi! I’m Dinitha Vithanage
Dinitha Vithanage is a Sri Lankan-born filmmaker, film composer and a musician based in Toronto. He completed his undergraduate degree in Human Biology & Music and Culture at the University of Toronto Scarborough. In his final year, Dinitha was awarded the prestigious Abram Krashinsky Prize in Music for the Best Original Composition. Since then, Dinitha has composed the music for over fifteen short films and two feature films as well as commercials for brands such as New Balance. He is currently pursuing his Masters degree in Music Technology and Digital Media at the University of Toronto.
Dinitha’s work as an independent filmmaker can be found in narrative films and music videos. He is the writer, director, producer and director of photography of eight music videos, three narrative short films and a feature film. His most recent short film, “For a Coffin Full of Gold,” earned him the award for Best Director and Best Drama at the 20th University of Toronto Film Festival. Dinitha is currently working on his debut feature, “Midnight Boulevard”. The film is currently in its post-production stage.
Dinitha hopes to improve his knack for genre-filmmaking and composing for visual media by collaborating with artists who share the same passion for storytelling as he does.
